Kickstart Your Summer!

“KICKSTART YOUR SUMMER” – CELEBRATE THE ARTS
LIVE RADIO BROADCAST - A FREE FAMILY EVENT
 
WRCJ 90.9 FM and Edsel & Eleanor Ford House have partnered to present “Kickstart Your Summer,” a fun-filled event for families, students and arts organizations on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event features continuous live entertainment, an instrument “petting zoo” and other children’s activities, and more than 30 exhibitors from Southeast Michigan arts and educational organizations. The event will be held at the Activities Center on the grounds of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Rd, in Grosse Pointe Shores.
 
WRCJ-FM, Detroit’s “Classical Days, Jazzy Nights” radio station will broadcast live from the event with on-air personalities Dave Wagner (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Chris Felcyn (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.). Live entertainment will be provided by musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Livonia Symphony, Macomb Symphony, Oakland University, Cantata Academy Chorale, Langsford Men’s Chorus and the Motor City Brass Band - as well as theatre groups such as the Grosse Pointe Theatre and Full Impact Theater. 
 
Families will be able to sample tasty food from Ford House’s Cotswold Café, Dirty Dog Jazz Café, and Fresh Farms Market. In addition to the musical organizations above, representatives from The Detroit Institute of Arts, Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, The Windsor Symphony, Sphinx Organization, Rackham Symphony Choir, Dearborn Symphony, Plowshares Theatre Company, Detroit Public TV, College for Creative Studies, Wayne State University’s Hilberry Theatre, Grosse Pointe Theatre, Grosse Pointe Community Chorus, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum, Cranbrook Music Guild and many others will be on hand with activities and information. Arts organizations wishing to participate may contact Mary Anne Mickie at 313.494.6089 or mmickie@dptv.org.
 
Tours of the historic Edsel & Eleanor Ford House will be available with an admission fee of $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $5 for children ages 6 – 12, free for children under 5.
