Come join us for a special members-only preview of the work we've been doing on Bird Island and elsewhere around the estate!

Bird Island has been closed since the winter, but it will reopen to the public on July 8. As a member, we invite you on the evening of July 7 to be among the first to walk across the newly installed footbridge now connecting the island to the mainland. Explore and discover the natural beauty on the island, toast the new bridge, and learn about the important work we are doing to protect and preserve the estate!

Chef Erik will be grilling up some hot dogs, plus there will be other treats and cold beverages, as well as beer and a tropical sangria for the grown-ups.

We will have a demonstration of the newly installed bioswale stormwater drainage system, which helps to naturally clean the water before it enters Lake St. Clair. Ford House staff members will be on hand to talk about the projects and construction on the estate. In addition, Rosann Kovalcik of Wild Birds Unlimited will be there to talk about the wonderful wildlife on Bird Island. We hope you will join us for this wonderful evening!

The event is free for members, but please reserve your tickets in advance so that we can get a head count! Also, please bring your membership card to the event on Tuesday.

The grounds will be open for your enjoyment. Please no dogs at the event.
