Architecture Tours

Detroit architect Albert Kahn's legacy can be seen not only in the skyline of city, but also in the stunning lakeside residence of Edsel and Eleanor Ford. On this tour, you will learn how Kahn’s industrial vision and artistic achievements are reflected in the design of the Fords’ Cotswold-style estate. Learn about the designs, history, and construction methods that made this estate what it is today.

This will be an outdoor walking tour. Wear good walking shoes, as we will cover over a mile of walking on uneven ground. No refunds or exchanges, unless the tour is cancelled for inclement weather. All participants must follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask for the duration of the tour.

Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children, Ford House members are FREE.

Our outdoor tours cover uneven ground, pebble paths, and may go through the rose garden, which has a few stairs. They also cross the lawn.

If you have accessibility needs or concerns, our tour staff can work with you to schedule an accessible tour. Please contact Sheila Ruen at  sruen[at]  and she will make the arrangements. Accessibility is important to us, and we want everyone to be able to share in the Ford House experience. If you have more questions you can also call Sheila at 313-884-4222.
