Easter Eggstravaganza
Posted: February 29, 2008

Even the potential for the wintry conditions of an early Easter won’t stop the annual Easter Eggstravaganza at Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. Celebrating the 15th year of offering this springtime tradition, Ford House will be alive with playful children running on the great Meadow to collect treat-filled eggs on Saturday, March 22. The grounds open at 10 a.m. and the horn blows for the egg hunt promptly at 10:30 a.m.

In addition to the egg hunt, kids get to visit with the Easter Bunny and receive a treat bag, and are entertained by clowns making their favorite balloon animals. Attendees are also invited to spend some time walking the grounds and stop in at the children’s favorite building at Ford House – Josephine Ford’s Play House.

“We’re thrilled that this event continues to be so popular,” said Jennifer Welsh, events and public programming manager, who has coordinated the event for the past 10 years. “We’ve enjoyed watching hundreds of children over the years as they excitedly gather their eggs. For many of them it’s their first visit to Ford House and for others it’s a long-standing family tradition.” Regarding the early Easter date, Welsh adds “We’ll be out there rain, shine or snow. We’re just reminding people to dress for the weather.”

Bunny Lunch
A limited number of tickets are also available for a special Bunny Lunch in the Activities Center. Guests will enjoy a kid-friendly menu of fresh fruit and veggies with ranch dressing, pinwheel deli sandwiches, baked chicken tenders with dipping sauces, penne pasta with marinara sauce, garlic bread, brownies and cookies.

Tickets for Ford House’s Easter Eggstravaganza are on sale now and are $7 per child and $4 per adult. The Bunny Lunch can be added for an additional $9 per person. The event is recommended for children ages 2-8. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 313.884.4222.
