Imagine 51 festively decorated fish “swimming” along the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House’s Great Meadow. The community will have the opportunity to attend a special free preview of the fish as they come together for the first time since their individual artists transformed them into works of art.

The Grosse Pointe Fish Preview is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and will feature a fish raffle, voting for the public’s favorite perch and fun for the family. Concessions will be available for purchase.

It’s been nearly seven years since the frogs hopped into Grosse Pointe and in the summer of 2012, the fish will be swimming into our community for the GP Fish festivities.

Spearheaded by the Grosse Pointe Chamber Foundation and Services for Older Citizens (SOC), the GP Fish festivities will promote arts, culture and camaraderie in the community and will also benefit the area by increasing pedestrian and retail traffic in the greater Grosse Pointe areas. In addition, GP Fish festivities will showcase local talent and draw media attention to our community from throughout the metro Detroit area.

The fiberglass fish will swim into primary business districts in the Pointes. Each fish is sponsored by a business and designed and decorated by a commissioned artist. The fish will be auctioned off at the auction gala in October, with all proceeds benefitting Services for Older Citizens and the Grosse Pointe Chamber Foundation.
