Construction Continues – Ford House Expansion Project Slated for 2021 Opening
Posted: September 21, 2020

Although progress was slowed by the pandemic, we are moving full-steam ahead on the construction of our new Visitor Center and Administration Building.

Opening is slated for 2021, and we hope to have a more firm date soon. Given the uncertainty due to the spread of coronavirus, we are holding off on setting an opening date at this time.

In the meantime, we will continue to share photos and project updates on our blog at www.building.fordhouse.org

Recent news includes the installation of solar panels on the roof, bird-safe glass windows, and the interiors taking shape with finishes like wood and tile.

We have received a lot of questions about the opening of our new restaurant which will be located in the new Visitor Center. It will not open until the buildings are finished next year. We are excited to share that the new dining space will look out on a beautiful view Ford Cove and will also feature patio seating. It will be open for dinners, lunches and Sunday brunch. There will also be a grab-and-go counter where you can pick up a coffee or a quick bite to enjoy on the grounds.

Other features of the new Visitor Center include new exhibitions with never-before-seen artifacts, spaces for educational programs and meetings, beautiful event rental spaces with expansive views of the water, as well as a new shopping experience.

We can’t wait to share this new Ford House experience with you.
