Ford House is Closed Until Jan. 30
Posted: January 4, 2016

With so many visitors coming to Ford House each year, we need to take some time to give the home and our collection some TLC.

This year, the specialists with the Collections Care and Historic Buildings teams will be busy throughout January to working on the conservation, maintenance and deep cleaning projects that are necessary for the preservation and care of the estate.

Some of tasks on this year’s list include washing crystal glasses, waxing floors and walls, removing mold from certain collection items, cleaning carpets, dusting books and much more. We are also working on the Teague-designed Steinway piano that usually sits in the Modern Room -- which requires moving the piano out to hopefully restore it to working order. Check our website and Facebook page for updates on that big project!

In order for them to complete these and many other tasks, the estate is closed for most of the month of January.

Members may still access the grounds for walks, including dog walks. However, please note restrooms will not be accessible in the Visitors Center.

We look forward to welcoming guests again when tours resume Saturday, January 30. We will also be launching an exciting new art exhibition at the end of the month. Stay tuned for updates!
