Plan Your Visit: Tours
Experience what being a guest of the Fords was like on a tour of this traditional, 60-room English Cotswold home, designed by one of the country’s greatest architects, Albert Kahn. Painstaking attention to authenticity and quality hand craftsmanship were skillfully blended with modern conveniences and contemporary design to make Ford House one of America’s true classic historic homes.
When visiting Ford House, you will not only marvel at the diverse décor and furnishings, which reflect the Fords’ lifelong love of art in its many forms, you’ll also get a rare and wonderful insight into the family, their activities and interests, business responsibilities and concern for the local community.
General Tours schedule:
April – December
Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday, noon – 4 p.m.January - March
Tuesday –Friday, Noon and 1:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m.
Ford House is also open for certain Monday holidays, such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day. If you are thinking about visiting Ford House on a holiday that falls on a Monday, please call 313.884.4222 to see if tours will be given.
Ford House is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and for two weeks each winter for conservation projects. If you are planning a visit in January or February, please call to confirm tour times.
Reservations for general tours are not necessary for fewer than 10 guests. Group tours (10 or more guests) are available at other times as well. Reservations for groups are required and may be made by contacting the Group Tour Sales Director
Garden and Grounds Tours
As part of the house tour admission, you are invited to enjoy the grounds at your own pace. Grounds only tickets as well as an audio taped tour of the grounds are also available.
