Patio Chic: Exploring Vintage Garden Furnishings

1100 Lake Shore Rd.

Patio Chic: Exploring Vintage Garden Furnishings

It may be cold outside, but this program will have you thinking summery thoughts as you explore Eleanor and Edsel Fords’ vintage garden furniture collection – including pieces rarely put out for public view.

This program is part of our Collectors' Series, and will explore the history of garden furniture and how it was used for entertaining. It will be led by Maggie Lidz, cultural historian now working at Edsel & Eleanor Ford House and former curator of garden furniture at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. She is also the author of The du Ponts: Houses and Gardens in the Brandywine.

The program will take you behind the scenes to the places in Ford House where we store our furniture pieces, and you’ll learn about how we protect and care for our garden furniture during the off-season. You will leave with tips on where to find great pieces of vintage garden furniture to enhance your own outdoor settings!

At the end of the program, participants will get to mingle and further discuss the topics over sparkling wine and pastries.

Tickets are $40 non-members, $35 members per program. Or buy the series of three workshops for $110 non-members, $95 members and save! To purchase the entire series, click here!
