The Ford House

Edsel & Eleanor Ford House tells the story of the home life of a prominent American family.


Edsel & Eleanor Ford House is pleased to offer internships in the areas of collections, exhibitions, archives, research, and education.

Our interns participate and gain experience in the following areas:

  • Exhibition and collection research
  • Processing archival collections
  • Object photography
  • Cataloging collections
  • Data entry
  • Digitizing photographic collections
  • Exhibit preparation
  • Handling artifacts
  • Other assignments depending upon the interests and skills of the student

Candidates must be able to handle objects with extreme care, write neatly, work with detailed numbering systems, keep accurate and clear records, and work with computerized data and word processing software. Preferred majors include history, art history, material culture/anthropology, museum studies, archival science, or related fields. Previous museum or gallery experience is not required. Please note that all internships at Ford House are unpaid.

This fellowship provides general collections management support for the Collections Department at the Historic Ford Estates. Applications are due May 18.

During this one-semester internship in Summer 2018, The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Education Intern will develop a specialty tour, which will be added to our tour schedule upon the opening of our new Visitor Center in 2019.
